A Better 3G Experience, AT&T vs Verizon

There's A Map For That
I have to get my hands on this story. It’s too much.
It all started with Verizon issuing AD’s displaying a rich vibrant red 3G coverage map, and AT&T’s “spotty” blue coverage map. Of course, why wouldn’t this make AT&T upset. Turning to legal matters would seem like a sure fire way of taking care of this. But there stands only one problem. AT&T is now suing Verizon for “mis-leading customers”, because as it turns out the 3G Coverage Map Verizon shows is accurate. AT&T has not taken the time to upgrade their 3G coverage.

Funniest thing is, the judges overruled the idea of Verizon pulling the ads. They are still running and probably will stay that way.

AT&T is trying to say that most people are not able to distinguish the difference of their 3G Coverage Map, and their actual Data map (which includes EDGE, GSM, etc). Granted most people may have difficulty understanding the real difference, we can still tell the best kind of coverage and how much of it there is throughout the states.

They are also starting their comeback commercials. Check boxes comparing the two differences (how original), with Luke Wilson (who again) comparing.
What I find completely humorous is AT&T has went to saying “The Best 3G Coverage” to “A Better 3G Experience“ Maybe Verizon should file a counter claim that AT&T is just straight up lieing. Once Verizon (if they ever do after this) gets the iPhone, I see AT&T retiring from the mobile wireless market and selling to Verizon. Especially now that Verizon is tied up with Google. (and that’s all I’m saying about that) Who knows what is going to happen next.

Powermat?
Posted by Matt in General Posts, Rants, Straight Up News on October 5, 2009
Anybody heard anything about Powermats? I mean I understand that it is something inside the back panels that connects wirelessly to the mat. Something tells me it’s not safe. Could be wrong.
Little pricey, but I guess it’s a little worth it.
$99.99 Powermat Portable Recharging Mat.
Target or Best Buy
$29.99 iPhone or iPod Touch “receivers”
And $29.99 for a DS too! Yeah!
It sounds great, but it just almost seems like something that would either get your phone hot — and you know the problems that follow that. And then maybe it would screw up the charging system. Maybe thinking that it is fully charged when it’s not. I do know that when you have a constant WiFi connection the battery power is pleh (new word) on phones. Does just fine on iPhone/iPod Touch and DS.
Hurrah! I hope it’s legit and non damaging…because…I want it.
It will make my blackberry, however, even less pocket friendly. Sadness on a silver platter.
I want one but I just wonder how legit they are. Not that it’s a scam, but maybe. Give it some thought at least.
Let me know what you think.

I will never forget…
And neither should you.
Happy Birthday, King of Pop
Posted by Matt in General Posts, Music, Straight Up News on August 29, 2009
Today would have been Michael J. Jackson’s 51’st Birthday, and in honor of this event I wanted to write a little ‘Happy B-Day/Memorial’.
For those of you who don’t know, Michael Jackson was found dead at his rented mansion at 100 North Carolwood Drive in the Holmby Hills district of Los Angeles on June 25th, 2009.
To this day questions and concerns keep popping up about the King of Pop’s death, but as it stands it remains a homicide. (According to a Los Angeles coroner) Though manslaughter investigations are currently being conducted on Jackson’s personal physician, Conrad Murray. This being because Jackson was being administered the drugs propofol, lorazepam, and midazolam at the time of his death.
Michael will be buried on September 3rd, 2009.
Supposidly, (Keep in the mind this is the Entertainment Business we are talking about, projecting that most of these accusations are completely and utterly false), Michael had a long time struggle with a pain medication addiction, to the point where he was having family members take out prescriptions in their name just to cope with his habbits. With that being said, it was known that Michael had slowed down the prolonged usage of these meds, but still not to a normal, healthy state.
I even received an email from VH1 yesterday saying that they had found “Marijuana” at Michael’s mansion. My only comment on that matter is the following: “So What if Michael smoked pot! I can guarantee he is not alone. Now, I’m not going to start the argument of whether or not Marijuana is “good” for you, because quite frankly that has nothing to do with this, but what I will say is it certainly had nothing to do with his death. So what if Little Michael got a little high every once in awhile? People are just trying to pull every little thing out of Michael’s personal life and exploit it. The man is resting and has gone to a better place. LET HIM REST IN PEACE!”
Please visit the Wikipedia page for more information.
With that all being said, Happy Birthday Michael. May God rest your beloved soul. I’ll never forget.
(Then again, how could you?)
‘Little’ Michael Jackson! NOOOO!!!

RIP Michael Jackson…
So very unexpected…
Confused?
Michael Jackson, the sensationally gifted child star who rose to become the “King of Pop” and the biggest celebrity in the world only to fall from his throne in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday. He was 50.Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Ed Winter, the assistant chief coroner for Los Angeles County, confirmed his office had been notified of the death and would handle the investigation.
The circumstances of Jackson’s death were not immediately clear. Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home about 12:30 p.m., Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to the hospital, Ruda told the newspaper.
Farrah Fawcett too…
Can’t forget Ed McMahon.
LOS ANGELES – Ed McMahon, the loyal “Tonight” show sidekick who bolstered boss Johnny Carson with guffaws and a resounding “H-e-e-e-e-e-ere’s Johnny!” for 30 years, died early Tuesday. He was 86. McMahon died shortly after midnight at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center surrounded by his wife, Pam, and other family members, said his publicist, Howard Bragman.
Bragman didn’t give a cause of death, saying only that McMahon had a “multitude of health problems the last few months.”
McMahon broke his neck in a fall in March 2007, and battled a series of financial problems as his injuries prevented him from working.
Doc Severinsen, “Tonight” bandleader during most of the Carson era, said McMahon was a man “full of life and joy and celebration.”
“He will be sorely missed. He was one of the greats in show business, but most of all he was a gentleman. I miss my friend,” Severinsen said in a statement.
Don Rickles, a frequent “Tonight” guest, said McMahon was “a friend from the day I first walked” onto the show’s stage.
“That kind of fun will never be repeated. Ed was the best at what he did and will never be replaced. Another giant is gone,” the comedian said.
“I will miss that laugh, and I will miss him,” said Bob Newhart, another “Tonight” regular.
David Letterman paid tribute to McMahon as a “true broadcaster” and key part of Carson’s show.
“Ed McMahon’s voice at 11:30 was a signal that something great was about to happen. Ed’s introduction of Johnny was a classic broadcasting ritual — reassuring and exciting,” Letterman said, adding, “We will miss him.”
Letterman’s bandleader, Paul Shaffer, said McMahon “defined professionalism in broadcasting.”
David Brenner, who often filled in as a guest host for Carson, called McMahon “the best sidekick TV has ever known.”
“He was a human GPS navigational system, guiding you in all the right directions, keeping you from going off course, rerouting you when you did and making all of it great fun,” Brenner said.
