I was shocked when I checked AwStats last night. I’m usually not one of those people who really cares how many people go to my site, because I honestly thought that I only had a small group. Well, I did when I first started with this site.. I remember back in 2004 when the domain was first purchased and there was just a place holder, I would get about 1-2 hits a day, averaging about 40 hits per month. That seemed good for me, considering that nobody knew about my site other than the people I had told.

I guess when you have a site for 4 years things really do catch on. I looked at AwStats and my daily hits (average) were anywhere from 2000-4000…DAILY! That’s pretty good for a personal site! Then I looked at Mointhly averages and it ranges anywhere from 6500-10,000 visits a month. I’m not talkin about hits, I’m talking about Unique visitors… DAMN! I had no idea I was actually that popular.

But my only question is this: I have so many visitors, yet nobody ever comments what I write on here. I guess people come here, read it- and they are done. I wonder if I stupidly have it set up to where you have to create an account to post a comment. I’m pretty sure I don’t, though. Then again, doing that stops spammers. (Though I still get a few spam comments that I have to deny every once in awhile — you know the ones I’m talking about. They use you for your trackbacks.)

That was one thing that concerned me – are all these hits Spammers? — But AwStats is fully functional and tells me where they came from, what browser, etc. And I don’t think they are all spammers. I think about 50-100 of the hits & visits are spammers, and the rest are real people looking at my site.

I’m touched, and if I could I’d thank everyone who visits my site, but since I don’t know them, I can’t. So I’ll just say it on here (just in case there are some reoccurring visitors!) THANKS!!

Ok, I’m done for now. I just wanted to share this newly discovered fact.

Oh, and if you don’t have AwStats for your page, you really need to get it. http://awstats.sourceforge.net/
